I Paid My CCJ Within One Month – What Happens Next?

Discovering a County Court Judgment (CCJ) can be stressful. One of the first questions many people ask is whether they can get a CCJ removed if they pay it quickly.

"I've paid my CCJ within one month. What happens now?"

The good news is that paying a CCJ in full within one calendar month may allow the judgment to be cancelled and removed from the Register.

Why Does the One-Month Deadline Matter?

The timing of payment is important. If a CCJ is paid in full within one calendar month of the judgment date, you may be able to apply for cancellation of the judgment.

If payment is made after one month, the judgment will normally remain on the Register and may instead be marked as satisfied.

Can a CCJ Be Removed After Payment?

Sometimes, yes. If the full judgment amount is paid within one calendar month of judgment, cancellation may be possible. If payment is made later, the CCJ may usually only be marked as satisfied rather than removed.

What Evidence Should I Keep?

You should retain evidence showing that payment was made in full and when it was made.

Keeping a clear audit trail can make the cancellation process much easier.

What If the Solicitor Cannot Find the Payment?

Occasionally there can be delays between payment being made and payment being allocated by the claimant or their solicitors.

If this happens, keep copies of all payment confirmations and correspondence. Evidence showing that payment was successfully processed may be important when asking for the account to be updated.

What Form May Be Required?

Applications relating to cancellation may involve Form N443. This is different from a set aside application, which commonly uses Form N244.

The court may require evidence that the judgment has been paid in full and that payment was made within the relevant time period.

How Long Does CCJ Removal Take?

Processing times can vary. After the court has processed the application, updates may take several weeks to be reflected by the Register and credit reference agencies.

What If I Paid After One Month?

Payment after one month may still be beneficial because the judgment can normally be marked as satisfied.

However, this is different from cancellation and removal from the Register. A satisfied CCJ may still remain visible for a period of time.
